Samatha Meditation
Gen Lamrimpa
Publié en 1992
Livre
Documentaire
In 1988, Gen Lamrimpa, a Tibetan monk, led a one-year retreat in the Pacific Northwest, during which a group of Western meditators devoted themselves to the practice of meditative quiescence (shamatha). This book is a record of the oral teachings he gave to this group at the outset of the retreat. The teachings are brought to life by Gen Lamrimpa's warmth, humor, and extensive personal experience as a contemplative recluse. An invaluable practical guide for those seeking to develop greater attentional stability and clarity, this work will be of considerable interest to meditators, psychologists, and all others who are concerned with the potentials of the human mind.

Universal Love : The Yoga Method of Buddha Maitreya
Lama Yeshe
Publié en 2008
Livre
Documentaire
Excerpts from Universal Love: ...when we study Buddhism we re studying ourselves--the nature of our body, speech and mind--the main emphasis being on the nature of our mind and how it works in everyday life. The main topic is not something else, like what is Buddha, what is the nature of God or things like that. Why is it so important to know the nature of our own mind? It's because we all want happiness, enjoyment, peace and satisfaction and these experiences do not come from ice cream but from wisdom and the mind. Therefore we have to understand what the mind is and how it works. ...tantra is the right practice for Westerners and of the utmost need in this twentieth century. After all, the Buddha wanted us to have as much perfect pleasure as possible; he certainly didn t want us to be miserable, confused or dissatisfied. Therefore we should understand that we meditate in order to gain profound pleasure, not to beat ourselves up or to experience pain. If entering the Buddhist path brings you nothing but fear and guilt then it s certainly not worth the effort. ...Maitreya is the manifestation of the love of all the buddhas--the supreme beings who have achieved limitless, universal love. When we practice the yoga method of Buddha Maitreya we unify with the universal love energy that is Maitreya by developing to their ultimate extent the limited qualities of love, compassion and purity that presently lie within us.

Lama Yeshe
Publié en 1987
Livre
Documentaire
A Vision of Totality (A Wisdom basic book). What is tantra? Who is qualified to practice it? How should it be practiced? What are the results? According to Buddhism, every human being has the potential to achieve profound and lasting happiness. And according to the tantric teachings of Buddhism, this remarkable transformation can be realized very quickly if we utilize all aspects of our human energy - especially the energy of our desires. Introduction to Tantra is the best available clarification of a subject that is often misunderstood. In this book, Lama Yeshe, who was a fully realized tantric meditator, scholar, and yogi, outlines the entire tantric path.

Teachings From The Vajrasattva
Lama Zopa Rinpoche
Publié en 2000
Livre
Documentaire
This book is an edited transcript of Lama Zopa Rinpoche’s teachings at a three-month Vajrasattva retreat held at Land of Medicine Buddha, Soquel, California, from February 1 to April 30, 1999. Venerable Marcel Bertels led the retreat. First published in 2000, the book was fully revised and updated in 2018. Rinpoche’s teachings were of three types: the weekend public teachings, teachings at special events, such as a light offering meditation, two long life initiations, a Medicine Buddha puja preceding a jang-wa ceremony for the dead, and an animal liberation ceremony; and teachings during Vajrasattva retreat sessions, at which Rinpoche would often arrive unannounced and proceed to explain various parts of the practices being done at the time.

L'essentiel de La Voie Progressive Vers L'eveil
Ganden Tri Rimpoche Longri Namgyel
Publié en 2004
Livre

Spiritual Friends
Collective
Publié en 2001
Livre
Documentaire
Our true spiritual friends are the positive potentials in our minds, which will never never disappoint us and never desert us. Similarly, the generous and personal meditations offered in this book help us develop these potentials and thus are true friends to whom we can always turn. Likewise, the Sangha, as the ordained followers of the Buddha upon whom the continuity of the Buddha's teachings depend, are spiritual friends who encourage us and inspire us to transform our minds. This unique book--the first from the International Mahayana Institute--contains meditations written by eighteen nuns and monks of the IMI Sangha as well as an autobiographical essay from each in which these nuns and monks share how they came to the ordained life.
