Lama Mipam's commentary to Nagarjuna's Stanza's for a novice monk, together with, Tsong khapa's Essence of the ocean of Vinaya. Commentary on Nāgārjuna's Śrāmaṇerakārikā, verse work on the code of discipline for Buddhist novices; includes Tsong khapa's work on Buddhist monastic rules. This small volume contains two works on the Vinaya, or system of self-discipline, which is considered very important within all the Dharma tradition of Tibet. These texts focus on the Vinaya as it is taught to young novice minks: the first work is Nagarjuna's Stanzas for a Novice Monks, presented with a commentary by the 19th century Nyingma lama, Jamyang, Mipam Rinpoche. The second work in this volume is the Essence of the Ocean of Vinaya, composed by the 14th-century lama, Je Tsong Khapa, concerning the eight fundamental categories of pratimoksha vows. Although both of these text sere primarily composed for ordained members of the Sangha, they contain wisdom and advice of benefit to all those interested in the Buddhadharm and Tibetan culture.

Livre

This King of Prayers, the extraordinary aspiration of the prayer of Samantabhadra, is commonly recited to bring benefit to those who are sick or have just passed away, and for the success of a virtuous project. It is a beautifully written aspiration containing the immaculate wishes of holy beings and in itself is a complete practice. It was extracted from the Gandhavyuha chapter of the Avatamsaka Sutra.

Prajnaparamita Sutras ; The Ornament of Clear Realization and Its Commentaries in the Tibetan Kagyu Tradition. The Abhisamayalamkara summarizes all the topics in the vast body of the Prajnaparamita Sutras. Resembling a zip-file, it comes to life only through its Indian and Tibetan commentaries. Together, these texts not only discuss the hidden meaning of the Prajnaparamita Sutras—the paths and bhumis of sravakas, pratyekabuddhas, and bodhisattvas—but also serve as contemplative manuals for the explicit topic of these sutras—emptiness—and how it is to be understood on the progressive levels of realization of bodhisattvas. Thus these texts describe what happens in the mind of a bodhisattva who meditates on emptiness, making it a living experience from the beginner's stage up through buddhahood. Gone Beyond contains the first in-depth study of the Abhisamayalamkara (the text studied most extensively in higher Tibetan Buddhist education) and its commentaries in the Kagyu School. This study (in two volumes) includes translations of Maitreya's famous text and its commentary by the Fifth Shamarpa Goncho Yenla (the first translation ever of a complete commentary on the Abhisamayalamkara into English), which are supplemented by extensive excerpts from the commentaries by the Third, Seventh, and Eighth Karmapas and others. Thus it closes a long-standing gap in the modern scholarship on the Prajnaparamita Sutras and the literature on paths and bhumis in mahayana Buddhism. The first volume presents an English translation of the first three chapters of the Abhisamayalamkara and its commentary by the Fifth Shamarpa. The second volume presents an English translation of the final five chapters and its commentary by the Fifth Shamarpa.

The Sanghata Sutra is a Mahayana sutra containing stories illustrating the power of invoking the bodhisattva wish when interacting with others; and the power of past and present actions to produce expansive results. Imbued with the blessings of the power of prayer invoked by Shakyamuni Buddha himself, recitation of this sutra produces a great mass of positive karma that can quickly ripen, even in this life.

The root text was composed by Ashvagosha in the first century BCE, translated into English by Sharpa Tulku, Khamlung Tulku, Alexander Berzin and Jonathan Landaw, and published by the Library of Tibetan Works and Archives in 1975. The translation and explanation of the root text are based on commentaries by Lama Tsong Khapa and Pabongka Rinpoche. Gen Rinpoche Geshe Ngawang Dhargyey gave an oral commentary of this texte at the Library of Tibetan Works and Archives, Dharamsala, about 1973. Gen Rinpoche Geshe Ngawang Dhargyey gave a long commentary at the Library of Tibetan Works and Archives, Dharamsala, in July–August 1976. It was translated by Losang Gyaltsen and edited by Nicholas Ribush from his notes of the class. The Fifty Verses of Guru Devotion [Skt: Gurupancashika; Tib: Lama Nga-chu-pa] was written in about the first century B.C. by Ashvagosha. This Indian poet was known by many names—such as Aryashura, Matriceta, Patriceta, Matichitra, and Bhavideva—and was a contemporary of King Kaniska of the Kusan Dynasty. Having previously been a strong non-Buddhist believer, he became an extremely devout follower of the Buddha’s path and wrote many works on its various aspects.
