« Tu enseigneras au monde comment guérir » Le Dalaï-Lama. Après avoir subi la torture dans son pays occupé, l'abbé tibétain Phakyab Rinpoché se réfugie à New York en avril 2003. Il est hospitalisé d'urgence pour une gangrène sévère au pied droit. Alors que les médecins préconisent une amputation immédiate, il reçoit du dalaï-lama ce message : « Pourquoi cherches-tu la guérison à l'extérieur de toi ? Tu as en toi la sagesse qui guérit et une fois guéri tu enseigneras au monde comment guérir. » Dans un petit studio de Brooklyn, Rinpoché médite pendant trois ans sur l'amour inconditionnel et les yogas secrets de l'énergie interne dont il reçut l'initiation à 16 ans. Il repousse l'infection et reconstruit les os de sa cheville, ce que seule une greffe osseuse permet normalement. Le docteur Lionel Coudron, après étude du dossier médical, qualifie cette double guérison de « phénomène d'une puissance exceptionnelle ».

This book is based on a series of talks on the Seven Factors of Awakening given at Bodhinyanarama Monastery in New Zealand during the Rains Retreat in 2007. My intention is to give some basic information about the Factors based upon the teachings in the Pali Canon, the scriptures of the Theravada school of Buddhism, to readers ranging from complete beginners to experienced meditators, including guidance on how to develop these important spiritual qualities. Thus this is a series of meditative contemplations to help support a direct experience of the Factors. I have therefore tended to emphasize certain aspects of particular Factors, for example, acknowledging natural energy rather than only will-power, making Awakening more accessible rather than explaining the 'higher stages', etc. I have included a suggested meditation at the beginning of each chapter to encourage a meditative enquiry.
