"My Land and My People" tells the story of the Dalai Lama's life, as well providing a history of the shocking subjugation of the Tibetan people by the Chinese government. Rather than being an angry indictment, however, the book instead issues a gentle appeal for understanding and peace. This dignified testament by a great spiritual and temporal leader, driven into exile by Communist China, is one of the most heartbreaking documents ever published. His Holiness the fourteenth Dalai Lama of Tibet relates the story of his brief, tumultuous reign climaxed by the appalling humiliation and systematic murder of his people by the Chinese. A civilized, compassionate man and a sincere reformer, he writes of the simple Tibetan life into which he was born, and among whom he, as the reincarnation of his predecessor, was discovered and declared Dalai Lama according to his country's ancient customs. During and after the invasion, the Dalai Lama appealed to the United Nations, and the International Commission of Jurists undertook a detailed study of the situation. The horror uncovered by the Commission surpassed sanity and reason, and it is detailed in these pages. My Land and My People is a tragic book. Yet, it is deeply inspiring, for the whole story is told with the gentle forgiving spirit of a Buddhist monk. Written shortly after the invasion of Tibet, this English translation was first published in 1962. Contains 44 photographs and 3 maps.

Mais c’est avant tout un esprit marqué d’une aspiration immense se traduisant par une volonté indomptable : celle d’atteindre l’éveil. Le récit de sa vie (publié ici en français pour la première fois dans son intégralité), parsemé de chants magnifiques, nous entraîne dans toutes les péripéties qui le mènent jusqu’à son but. Il serait difficile de ne pas être touché par tant d’efforts, tant de dévouement et tant de grandeur.

Le Mahamoudra qui dissipe les ténèbres de l'ignorance est un des traités majeurs sur les enseignements du Mahamoudra ou « Grand Sceau », un système de méditation du bouddhisme mahayana sur la nature de l'esprit, visant à atteindre l’éveil. Il fut confié en Inde par le Bouddha Vajradhara à Tilopa, puis transmis par une lignée ininterrompue de maîtres à disciples et introduit au Tibet par Marpa. L'ouvrage a été composé au XVIe siècle par le 9e Karmapa, auteur de plusieurs ouvrages de références sur le sujet. Freda Bedi en effectua une traduction en anglais à partir du tibétain en 1971, et Alexander Berzin en effectua une autre traduction après que Bérou Khyentsé Rinpoché enseigna ce texte et le commenta à Bodhgaya de décembre 1976 à janvier 1977. Le 9e Karmapa écrivit ce texte dans la maison Zhoka-or au cours de ses pratiques méditatives, à la demande de Samdey Lama Samten-kunga. Il s'agit d'un manuel de méditation à visée pratique, pour laquelle la direction d'un lama qualifiée est requise.
