Depuis ce jour de décembre 1959 où il anima ses petits personnages dans les pages de l'hebdomadaire Spirou, Roba est resté fidèle à sa recette du succès : de l'humour, de la tendresse et de la poésie… Installée dans son pavillon de banlieue au charme intemporel, la petite famille vit sa petite vie et reste imperméable au tumulte du monde extérieur. À peine si les soucis pointent le bout de leur nez au détour d'une page – oh, et ça n'est jamais bien méchant. Ici, Boule se demande comment il va affronter la colère de ses parents s'il rapporte à la maison son dernier bulletin scolaire. Là, ses parents ne savent pas trop comment lui expliquer ce que signifie "le fruit défendu". Bref, rien de grave. Les grincheux – rares – reprochent à Roba de cantonner ses personnages dans un monde irréel, bien à l'abri de la vraie vie. Ses admirateurs – nettement plus nombreux – ne le remercieront jamais assez pour la fraîcheur de son inspiration et le charme inaltérable de ses dessins. Quant aux enfants, ils ont déjà choisi leur camp : ils restent les amis indéfectibles de Boule et de Bill, irremplaçables compagnons de rêve et de bonne humeur. "Waf waf !" --Philippe Actère
