PreSchool-- Little Duck's search for a place to swim puts him into all sorts of predicaments. He finds a wet umbrella "too tipsy," a can of paint "too messy," and a sink full of dishes "too soapy." It is all "too, too much" until Little Duck finds a pond that is "just right." Large, intimidating dogs and a surprised goldfish are all presented from Little Duck's perspective, increasing the book's appeal to young readers. Using warm, sunny watercolors and minimal text, Stott has created an endearing character whose humorous expressions will allow readers to anticipate the text.
